Our story
Founded in 2024 by two ex-hoteliers, byeHotelier builds high-converting websites for hotels using Mews.
But that's not how it started.
From front desk to founder
We’re Matt and Adrian. We met in 2014 while working at a boutique hotel in Kamloops, Canada, and quickly became close friends.
Over the next decade, Adrian became GM of a historic hotel in Vancouver, leading a full renovation and transforming the guest experience. I spent eight years at Expedia, leading strategic partnerships, product marketing, and innovation projects. That’s where I saw firsthand how OTAs meticulously optimize every detail to drive bookings.
While I was immersed in travel tech, Adrian stayed grounded in hotel operations — balancing revenue growth, guest experience, and the day-to-day realities of managing a hotel.
A timely phone call
In March 2024, I was unexpectedly laid off from Expedia. Adrian called me up: “Hey,” he said. “You wanna switch sides?” (Meaning: from OTAs back to hotels)
He’d been sitting on a vision to build an agency that helps hotels increase their direct bookings. Quite a noble cause! So with the timing finally right, we decided to team up.
That’s how byeHotelier was born.
We didn’t start with websites
We began as consultants, helping hotels modernize their tech stacks, maximize direct channel revenue and enhance their guest journey. We partnered with top providers, including Mews, and became Certified Mews Deployment Partners, supporting hotels through onboarding.
Our company's first website
At the same time, we were offering nearly everything: revenue management, digital marketing, brand refreshes. We were trying to do it all.
But one issue kept coming up again and again.
Where it all clicked
After reviewing over 200 hotel websites, we kept seeing the same problem: most weren’t built to convert.
Guests are used to fast, intuitive OTA sites where it’s easy to find key info, compare rooms, and book in seconds. When a hotel’s site doesn’t measure up, bookings slip away.
And yet, hotels have full control over their websites. We thought: Shouldn’t they be better than OTA sites, not worse?
So we set out to change that. With help from talented designers and engineers, we started building custom websites that looked beautiful and performed even better.

Then we had a conversation with Tommy Kalita at Mews that sharpened our focus.
He explained that most Mews hotels can’t justify spending $15K+ on a custom site. Big brands and luxury properties can. But most hoteliers are left choosing between outdated DIY builders or rigid templates that aren’t optimized — and don’t integrate with Mews at all.
That’s when it all clicked.
Why we chose Mews
Mews was named the #1 PMS in 2024 and 2025, raised over $300M, and continues to expand globally. Every day, Mews attracts modern forward-thinking hoteliers — exactly the kind of people we love working with.
When a hotel upgrades to Mews, it often becomes clear that their website needs an upgrade too. That’s where we come in.
By building a flexible, pre-optimized website template already integrated with Mews, we can deliver a $15K+ experience at a fraction of the cost.
And because we focus on one ecosystem, we move faster, launch smarter, and deliver more value.

Where we are today
Today, byeHotelier is focused on one thing: building the best websites for hotels using Mews.
We’ve invested countless hours designing, testing, and refining our solution — built for performance, built for guests, and built for hoteliers ready to take control of their online experience.
Whether you’re launching a new hotel, modernizing your guest journey, or tired of underperforming websites, we’d love to connect.
